Most plant-based options today are processed foods like burgers, sausages, or minced meat. Our mission is to change that. With our advanced production process, we transform plant-based ingredients into fiber-rich whole cuts with the complexity of muscle texture, delivering an unmatched bite, juiciness, and versatility for various cooking methods.

It all began in 2014 when our founder Dr. Birgit Dekkers started researching the technological opportunities of plant-based proteins and how to create textures with them. Ever since our start-up engaged numerous employees that work tirelessly on the development and commercialization of our plant-based meat alternatives, driven by the need to restore our food system. In 2024 Rival Foods has established its first large-scale production site to deliver the next generation of plant-based meat alternatives to business clients around the globe!

Rival uses a proprietary technology called Shear Cell to create meat-like textures from plant-based proteins. Our unique production method enables the creation of whole muscle cut products from plants with a mild process. The process can simply be explained as a pressure cooker with a rotating part, using temperature and rotation to enable deformation and alignment of proteins for fibrous texture creation.
